Job Description: Reporting directly to the Manager of Environmental Protection Services, the Public Health Inspector assists in the ongoing planning, delivery, assessment and improvement of public health inspection (environmental protection) services in the Health Authority. Performs ongoing monitoring and inspections in a variety of public facilities, including: Public eating establishments; Food processing and manufacturing facilities, Accommodations; Recreation public facilities; Institution/housing facilities; Personal service facilities; Public water systems; Plumbing and private sewage disposal systems. Conducts compliance checks in public places under the Tobacco Control Act and investigates complaints of environmental tobacco smoke.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health (BSEH)

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Certificate in Public Health Inspector (Canada) (CPHI(C))
  • Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)

Memberships

  • Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI)

Other Information

  • Preference to HSAS members as per the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement
  • Travel required
