Richardson Oilseed is one of Canada's oldest and largest fully-integrated oilseed processing and packaging operations with three facilities across Canada. In addition to producing bulk canola oil and meal, our food products division produces a wide variety of canola-based margarines, oils, and shortenings for the industrial, retail and foodservice markets.
Working with Richardson opens the door to a world of possibility. We currently have an opportunity for a Refinery Operator at our Yorkton - Oilseed location. The Refinery Operator is responsible for the operation and monitoring of all refining and bleaching equipment and chemical offloading.
Responsibilities:
Operate plant equipment within a specific range of process parameters
Responsible for offloading of clay cars and ensure track out procedure is followed
Sample and test product as required
Complete operator log and daily production reports
Maintain equipment in good operating condition (general lubrication)
Report and document maintenance, electrical, automation, process, safety issues and downtime in action list books
Monitor and adjust all mechanical equipment to ensure production plan and quality is maintained
Record keeping and logging of all data as required
Clean bleaching filters as required
Add clay, citric acid and filter aid to post bleach batches as specified by production schedule
Troubleshoot process upsets
Confined space entry is required
Must maintain good attendance and meet performance expectations
Must maintain a clean and orderly work environment
Responsible for housekeeping in all areas (including daily/weekly/monthly/yearly)
Understand and comply with all workplace health and safety requirements, company policies and procedures and general workplace rules
Participate in the day to day health and safety program by working in a safe manner at all times:
Always using the required personal protective equipment
Ensuring that authorized work is completed safely
Utilizing required controls to prevent risk of exposure to hazards
Participating actively in incident investigations, training, and other health and safety initiatives
Reporting all unsafe acts and conditions and all incidents, near misses and workplace injuries/illnesses as per company procedure
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Grade 12 or equivalent
Must have mechanical aptitude
Excellent written, documentation and verbal communication skills
Must be willing to work shifts, overtime and cross train in other positions
Must be willing to work independently and be accountable for all work hours
Must have an excellent attendance record (less than 4 days absent in the past 12 months)
Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities according to Health and Safety policies and procedures
Automated process experience an asset
General Health - must be physically capable for all aspects of the job
Excellent interpersonal skills and team work ability are strong assets
