About the Position:
The AMD Compute and Graphics (CG) Memory Systems Engineering Team is looking for a dynamic, technical, experienced Emulation System engineering leader to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD's product portfolio, you will be part of a high-performance AMD team driving the delivery of high quality, industry leading product technology to market. The Emulation Engineering team is responsible for pre-silicon validation technology advances in emulation, et al, (described below) and execution of emulation pre-silicon validation of all CG products, including Client, Graphics, and semi-custom. This leader will foster and encourage continuous technical innovation, showcase successes, as well as facilitate continuous career development.
Key Responsibilities:
As the CG Emulation leader, you will lead a global team to drive planning and emulation execution for AMD Client, Graphics, and semi-custom products. Emulation include classic "big box" emulators, FPGA, N-1 silicon, APU software model (SimNow), as well and hybrid models utilizing the emulator and software sub-system models. Also your team will define and implement methodologies to leverage test content across pre-silicon and post-silicon; portable stimulus.
In addition, this role will lead the team to drive new "shift left" (pre-silicon validation) technologies to define roadmap of new capabilities and technologies to enhance validation, which includes emulation and other tools across SOC, Systems (validation), and Software. In addition, the candidate will plan and implement shift left work for upcoming CG products, working with the program-specific technical leads (Lead System Engineer - LSE, and the Silicon Evaluation Lead - SEL).
Other Emulation Technology work:
- Work with SOC emulation teams and the central AMD emulation team (VBU) to define and refresh emulation technology roadmap.
- Interface to VBU for prototyping and deploying tools to CGSE emulation and SimNow execution teams
- Emulation capacity planning and management for CGSE
- Influence development of SimNow emulation tools and methodology, including automation of emulation processes (model/FW quality, efficiency of emulator usage)
- Pilot and deploy some the technology advances on Client, Graphics, or semi-custom products
Skills and Experience:
The role needs to have an in-depth understanding of microprocessor product development and can solve complex problems on aggressive timelines. This technical leader must have excellent collaboration and communication skills, including senior executive communications. The candidate must have a proven track record of working well across teams and delivering projects to completion. The role may have limited travel and will report up to the Corporate Vice President of S3 System Engineering.
