About this opportunity:

Members of the Labor Pool perform a wide variety of operations, maintenance and general labor tasks in an industrial petroleum plant. Performs work in a way that is consistent with standard operating procedures, specifications, and regulatory standards, with attention to safe, timely and cost-effective operations. Work is performed both inside and outside, in a variety of weather conditions and is considered physically demanding.

What you'll do:

  • Load a variety of products into railcars and tanker trucks

  • Maintain required records for loading, inventory, distribution, and equipment

  • Train and work for Process Unit Operations when needed

  • Perform assignments in Maintenance when available

  • Aide technicians and mechanics performing mechanical, electrical and instrumentation maintenance as trained and within scope of position

  • Responsible for a high standard of housekeeping, organization, completion of duties and work product

  • Contribute and align to Cenovus safety culture and standards

  • Loads the correct volume of asphalt onto railcars and tanker trucks. This role also loads the correct volume of light cycle oil onto railcars

  • Safely move railcars at the asphalt rail dock with a shuttle wagon. Communication with your co-worker at the asphalt rail dock is critical

  • Provides vacation relief in the process units and when not loading or working in a process unit will be assigned to assist with Maintenance tasks

Who you are:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Associate Degree, BA/BS or college coursework, Trade School all considered an asset

  • Experience (3-5 years) in a live refinery considered an asset

  • 2 years paid work experience considered an asset

  • Experience in petroleum, transportation, or lubricants-related field considered an asset

  • Basic understanding of fluid flow, hydraulics, and fuel oils

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Committed to working safely

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

  • Possesses good dexterity and close attention to detail

  • Mathematical computation skills

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and its applications

  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions as outside work is required

  • Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license and a satisfactory safe driving record
