SCOPE OF POSITION


Our team is growing and we are searching for experienced professionals who are adventurous and ready to relocate. Our offices are located across the USA and we are hiring in both the Eastern and Western USA.


We are looking for a motivated engineer/geologist to work with us to help build our successful business. Depending on experience and skill level, roles would range from project/operations management to managing one of our business units. A successful candidate must have knowledge and experience in the geotechnical industry as well as well-developed interpersonal, organizational and communication skills and strong problem-solving abilities. The position will involve significant amounts of travel. As part of a small growing team of employees, you will be relied on for your flexibility and versatility.


OVERALL GOALS FOR THE POSITION

  • Manage and execute complex site investigation programs throughout North America we operate in.
  • Develop new business as a contractor in the mining, construction and infrastructure industries by providing a wide-ranging skillset.
  • Manage field crews and ensure projects are performed in a professional and safe manner


ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS


Project/Operations Management

  • Interact with clients for job procurement by developing and scoping field exploration plan
  • Direct field crews on project execution and manage project
  • Ensure data quality and safe operations
  • Accurately report findings to the client.


Equipment Operation

  • Operate High-Resolution Site Characterization tools for environmental site investigations, SCPTu equipment, VST, sampling systems, numerous geophysical instruments and other in-situ testing equipment safely and productively.
  • Be familiar with numerous types of drilling equipment and other pieces of equipment within our extensive fleet.
  • Organize logistics for the mobilization and demobilization of equipment in hard-to-access environments.
  • Be familiar with routine maintenance on various pieces of equipment to ensure optimal performance.


Health & Safety

  • Identify with and respect ConeTec’s safety culture, first and foremost.
  • Ensure proper preparation and knowledge of all necessary safe operating procedures before beginning any job.
  • Report any safety-related incidents, infractions, or near misses to the Project Manager and the HSE Officer, immediately.
  • Know and follow the incident reporting protocol at all times.


SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED


Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Applied Science, Geology, Geophysics or Related Fields.
  • Knowledgeable in a wide range of ConeTec's testing types and mechanically inclined.
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record.


Experience Requirements

  • 5-7 years of previous experience in the geotechnical industry,
  • Ability to travel and work in a variety of remote locations.


Technical Skill Requirements

  • Must have knowledge of common geotechnical site characterization methods
  • Design knowledge of the use of data derived from our exploration activities is an asset
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, moving heavy materials up to 50 lbs., climbing, crawling as well as walking on uneven ground, working long hours in all weather conditions
  • Electrical and mechanical technical skills are an asset.
  • Having data processing and report preparation skills is an asset


Soft Skill Requirements

  • Must possess a strong work ethic and professionally represent the company.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Must be responsible and work well independently or in a team setting with minimal supervision.
  • Must enjoy working outdoors and travelling for extended periods.
  • Must enjoy performing a wide variety of duties and be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Strong decision-maker with the ability to work independently in remote locations.


Other Requirements

  • Must be flexible and capable of taking on a variety of roles as required by business needs.
  • Flexibility with schedule and variable workloads.
