About this opportunity:

Cenovus is looking for a Senior Operations Advisor located at our Toledo, OH site. Reporting to the Operations Excellence Manager, this individual is the "go-to" inside board operations expert of their respective asset area and is accountable for developing and maintaining the board operations competency of IGOs and others on the team by working closely with Inside General Operators (IGOs), Refinery Coordinators, process and controls engineers, and members of Asset team. Playing a key role in onboarding new operators along with other members of the operations team the Advisor will support the development and maintenance of operator training materials and strategy for operator training.

The Senior Operations Advisor ensures operational continuity by acting as the liaison with the Asset Team and the control room. They guide planned outages in the control room and ensure operational impacts of planned maintenance are understood by key partners. They have the leadership capability to routinely fill in for and back up the Operations Asset Manager and the Operations Excellence Manager and provide long-term stability to the Operations Organization. While accountable for supporting the 24/7 team through abnormal operations, startups, and shutdown conditions.

What you’ll do:

  • Identify Trains inside board operators.
  • Develops continued training opportunities for operations including operators, refinery coordinators, and other operations support roles in support of delivering sustainable results on operational excellence.
  • Implements Simulator training and simulator scope.
  • Supports the development of refinery-wide system outage plans and coordinates additional support where needed.
  • Supports asset team focused on control room guidance.
  • Supports inside board and refinery coordinator in alarm health on control boards.
  • Supports new hire operators and cross-bid training.
  • Develops and maintains operator training materials.
  • Operations representative for DMC capability.
  • Participates in operations self-verification activities.
  • Supports procedure updates and procedure update process.
  • Participates in unit HAZOPs as operations support staff.
  • Supports inside board and refinery coordinators during abnormal operations, start-ups, and shutdowns.
  • Participates in Asset team meetings as needed to identify where additional inside operational support and training is needed.
  • Collaborate with Production Leads and 24/7 organization to ensure training consistency for the operations.

Who you are:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 10 years’ experience in petrochemical experience OR 5 years’ experience in a relevant industry with a technical degree

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Maintains board qualification for associated areas.
  • Refinery coordination qualification
