We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our Property Management team. This position is responsible for maintaining the surrounding grounds for Yukon Government owned buildings in accordance with the safety and quality standards established by the department. Duties include landscape maintenance, snow removal, and the proper operation and maintenance of tools and equipment necessary for groundskeeping and landscaping duties.

Essential Qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Labour experience in year around grounds maintenance in a commercial environment; previous grounds care an asset;
  • Experience with the operation and maintenance of snow removal equipment in a commercial environment, (i.e., snow blowers, sweepers, sanders, blower packs, etc.) and when directed the use of ATV's;
  • Experience with the operation and maintenance of Grounds equipment in a commercial environment (i.e., commercial ride on lawn mowers, push mowers, grass trimmers, blowers, sweepers, aerators, de-thatcher's, hand tools, etc.);
  • Experience safely loading, unloading, and transporting equipment using a trailer.


Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Desired knowledge, skills and suitability

The ideal candidate will possess these skills and knowledge, but also demonstrate suitability for the role and organizational culture.

  • Ability to safely operate and maintain grounds keeping/landscaping tools and equipment (i.e. mowers, snow blowers, sweepers, hand tools, etc.);
  • Proficiency in carrying out physical tasks and fulfilling the daily responsibilities associated with groundskeeping ;
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities ;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills;
  • Ability to take direction and work effectively within a team and/or individual environment;
  • Proficiency with mobile devices and associated apps (i.e., Outlook, etc.).

Conditions of Employment

This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment:

  • class 5 driver's licence or equivalent
  • security clearance, including Vulnerable Sector Check

Job Requirements

This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following job requirements:

  • Use of personal protective equipment
  • Shift work including weekends
  • Work in adverse weather conditions
  • Proficiency in performing heavy physical labour
