The Yukon Development Corporation (YDC) is governed by a board of directors appointed by the Government of Yukon. We have a legislative mandate to: Assure a continuing and adequate supply of energy;

  • Alleviate the effects of any energy shortage that may occur; and
  • Promote the establishment, development and operation within Yukon of industries or undertakings that are by their nature energy-dependent through the provision of cost-effective energy or energy-related infrastructure.

YDC's focus is on the energy transition, through supporting the development of new sources of generation in partnerships with First Nations and utilities. YDC is responsible for oversight of the Yukon Energy Corporation (YEC) on behalf of Yukoners, as its sole shareholder.

Reporting to The President and CEO of the Yukon Development Corporation, this position is responsible for the clean energy capital projects through the Yukon. The program area includes the planning, design and regulatory preparation of major energy capital projects.

This position is a key member of the Yukon Development Corporation team and provides support to the Deputy Minister and Assistant Deputy Minister. The position provides direction and leadership to the branch, is responsible for major government clean energy initiatives and leading and/or participating in the development and implementation of related legislation, regulations and policies.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, Business Administration, Project Management, or related field
  • Experience leading teams and human resource management
  • Experience developing, implementing and evaluating a range of renewable energy projects
  • Experience developing budgets, preferably in a senor management role within a government setting
  • Experience dealing with a variety of client groups including the public, private sector and First Nations governments

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
