This posting will be used to fill 1 term full-time position for ASAP to September 9, 2025, working 75 hours bi-weekly. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar permanent or term positions.

Temporary Assignments may be considered with prior approval from an applicant's manager.

This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon.

Our team

Yukon Communicable Disease Control (YCDC) is committed to providing excellence in the management of infectious diseases in Yukon. YCDC in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer of Health and the Public Health Agency of Canada, is responsible for the prevention, monitoring, and control of all communicable diseases (both vaccine and non-vaccine preventable) throughout the Yukon.

Your role

This position provides a full range of program, administrative and reception services to YCDC to ensure effective and efficient support to the program, including nursing staff, clients and other health care providers throughout YT. This position provides both medical office assistant and administrative assistant services to ensure the efficient operation of the unit.

If you are the successful candidate, you will be responsible for providing support to the health professionals and the clinic clients while maintaining the legal and ethical bounds of client confidentiality in a fast paced clinical environment. The main tasks and responsibilities include reception services, booking appointments, updating client information, data entry of clinical services/assessments provided by other health professionals into e-health client records and maintaining filing systems for all client records in electronic or paper formats.

Essential qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Experience working in medical office environment providing administrative support services, including scheduling, word processing, draft, reviews and formats documents and spreadsheets
  • Experience working front reception, delivering customer service with a focus on client-centred care and support on a daily basis
  • Experience using electronic health records systems such as Panorama and/or Meditech including searching and adding patients.
  • Experience in transcription/data entry of clinical information is an asset.
  • Formal education as an administrative medical assistant is an asset.

Conditions of employment

You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.

  • RCMP security screening vulnerable sector check
  • TB Screening
  • Class 5 driver's licence or equivalent
  • WHMIS 2015 within one month of hire

Job requirements

This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:

  • Busy clinic and office environment dealing with the public on a daily basis, with extended hours on a computer
  • Occasional need to work outside regularly scheduled hours
  • Ability to drive for work-related support such as fleet vehicle maintenance or pickup of medications/supplies
  • This position lives and works in Whitehorse, Yukon; it is not a fly in / fly out position
